In the development of our products and in our research we work together with various research organizations, such as university departments, healthcare and educational institutes and umbrella organizations. We also support research programs that are associated with four chairs.
Chair Marleen Janssen
Marleen Janssen is the first professor of deafblindness in the world and focuses specifically on Congenital and Early-acquired Deafblindness. She accepted the chair at the University of Groningen on February 17th, 2008. Janssen has had a long-term partnership with Kentalis.
Chair Hans van Balkom
In 2010, Hans van Balkom was appointed Professor on Augmentative and Alternative Communication at Radboud University Nijmegen, specializing in people with severe speech-/language disorders and multiple disorders.
This chair is unique because it is the world's first and only chair that focuses entirely on “Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)”.
Chair Harry Knoors
On behalf of Royal Dutch Kentalis, Harry Knoors holds an extraordinary chair in deaf education at the Radboud University Nijmegen. The chair is located at the Behavioral Science Institute (graduate school) and the Department of Special Educational Needs.
The chair is held by Knoors since 2003. This unique chair for the Netherlands was established in 1991 by a predecessor of Kentalis, the Institute for the Deaf. Harry Knoors combines professorship with his position as Managing Director of Kentalis Academy.
Chair Ludo Verhoeven
In July 2016, Ludo Verhoeven was appointed as extraordinary professor ‘Variation in communication, language and literacy’ at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. Ludo Verhoeven (53) is an expert in the field of language- and reading development and the emergence of learning problems.
